Social media hit the workfloor, empower yourself!

This is a social experiment trying to write an article with 'the crowd' through social media.

I will update the text coming in from responses on this blog and twitter messages directed to @ekanis. The title is a fact, we need 200 to 300 words in english. Let the games begin!

 Article

Social media is the next generation way of communication which consumes e-mail as an commodity.

A time and place indepedent way of communication, cross person/company, beyond functions/roles to improve knowledge and results.

stop projects (and departements) instead facilitate communities. Projects emerge. Skilled people sign up. Innovation rises.

Just some thoughts....

It's about recognizing that by sharing ideas and information your ideas become even better.

It's about recognizing that by sharing information and ideas those ideas have more chances of being realized.

It's about empowering people to be creative, create and share ideas AND take responsibility.

It's about taking responsibility for indiviual and team actions.

It's about shared success!

It's about an adapted reward system that not only focuses on ROI but also on less measurable things like generation and sharing of ideas, empowerment and teamplay; both at a team and individual level.


Social Media Communities only works efficient if you share your knowledge without limitations. As long as you keep thinking "should I share this knowledge, because if I do other people can make money with this knowledge, and in that case I am not" you are still not effective.

I notice that it is a very difficult to make this change for many people. But if you want to be succesfull with social media you need to change your attitude.

Other people have changed, and they become the hero's of the new social media communities out there.
